How it all began

RoyRoy

Roy was born to a wonderful Christian family in 1952. Roy had the privilege of parents who prayed and set an incredible example by living like Jesus daily. Their lives had the most influence on Roy’s decision to become a Christian when he was in Grade eleven. (Standard nine) He has always had a flair for youth ministry and gave 28 years, except for two-and-a-half years in a small village as the pastor of a small church, to full time youth ministry. In February 2005, Roy moved back to Pastor an adult ministry and is now a District Pastor at Christian Centre, East London.

Mandy
Mandy

Mandy was born in 1953 and was the second of five children. Her mother died when Mandy was just twelve years old. This resulted in her maturing at a very young age, taking on the responsibilities her mother used to carry, like cooking, ironing, washing and the like. She lost her father to alcohol shortly after her mother died and soon became the victim of an abandoned child and spent several years in a children’s home before being fostered by a family in East London. This family used to attend the church where Roy and Mandy met. Mandy chose to follow Jesus at this church. Mandy now runs our Bed & Breakfast, ‘Aloha B & B‘ from home and is contracted to Momentum as there contract nurse.

Roy & Mandy

Roy & MandyRoy and Mandy met at the Central Full Gospel Church, East London in 1968. Looking back, both Roy and Mandy realize that even though it took another 4 years before they dated for the first time, it was love at first site. The reason for this long period before they dated was two fold. One, Mandy was in a committed relationship and two, Roy was a very shy person. While in the army in 1971, Roy, who had now gained confidence, heard that Mandy and her boy friend had broken up and quickly called Mandy to set up a date on a weekend-off from the army. The rest is history. On the 1st June 1974, Roy and Mandy married and were blessed with 3 beautiful children over the next 8 years of their marriage. In June 2011, they celebrated 36 years together as husband and wife. Bradley, their oldest son turns 35 on 22 December 2011, Brendon turned 33 on 7 June 2011 and Janey turned 28 on 11 April 2011. The family continues to grow with four incredibly beautiful grand daughters and two handsome fantastic grandsons.
